SLAMMA JAMMA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. Females can be any height. We will measure males who are close to being over 6 feet tall if there is an objection. Any boys or mens teams may enter a 9-foot Basket Division if all of their players are under 6 feet tall. But if just one player is over 6 feet tall, they must enter a 9-foot Basket Division.
  2. Full-court games are the dimensions of the green area on a tennis court, 34 feet wide and 70 feet long.
  3. The game ball is a red, white and blue woman's size basketball, the official ball of the A.S.J.B.A.
  4. Matching colored shirts are required for all teams.
  5. There will be a 3 point line. Both feet must be BEHIND the line; referee will designate 3-pointer to scorekeeper. The 3 point line is 20 feet out, straight across the court.
  6. Goaltanding will be strictly enforced.
  7. The games run 20 minutes in length (two ten minute halves) with running clock. Half-time is two minutes. Stop clock last minute of game
  8. Each team is allowed ONE time-out per half. If you don't use a time-out in the first half you still get only one time-out in the second half. Time-outs are 45 seconds in length and they DO stop the clock.
  9. Fouls - There are no free throw to keep the game moving.
  10. Any Player fouled in the act of Shooting is awarded an automatic two points. If he scores and is fouled, three points. (3 points are awarded if fouled on a 3 point attempt, 4 points if 3 point attempt goes in.)
  11. Overtime is sudden victory. Start with jumpball, the first basket wins. Points are not awarded for fouls in overtime; the ball is taken out of bounds at half court.
  12. Jumpballs start each half, then it's alternate possessions on jumpballs.
  13. On a slam dunk, a player may touch the rim with their hand or hands. But if a player if a player slam dunks and grabs the rim and/or hangs on it, they are immediately ejected from the tournament!!! The basket is disallowed, the other team gets one point and the ball out of bounds at half court. This is the penalty for all "T's". Intentional fouls: the fouled team gets two pints and possession!. NOTE: You cannot foul at the end of the game to gain possession.
  14. Play tough defense, but do not try to take someone's legs out on a breakaway slam. Let them go. Play to win, but have fun doing it. All flagrant fouls will result in immediate ejection from the tournament.
  15. There are two referees per game to keep the games moving and to maintain control. Bad attitude and trash talking are not accepted at all. Any player giving a referee a hard time gets a "T" and a warning. The second "T" is ejection from the tournament!
  16. Roster limit is six players. Four play at a time. You can play with two players on the court, minimum. Rosters must be turned in before your first game.
  17. Game time is forfeit time. No grace period. Be on time!
  18. To avoid duplication, invent a unique team name or use a sponsor's name.
  19. Once a roster is set in or logged on at www.slammajamma.com there are no changes allowed.
  20. Teams may enter more than one division.
  21. All teams must be registered and paid in full by the deadline date at 5:00 pm.
  22. Medical release forms must be signed by all players before their first game.
  23. Registrations/Captains' meeting: A mandatory registration meeting for all team captains will be held Friday, the night before the tournament from 7:00 PM to 10:00. Tournament meetings and games times will be available only at the meeting! Call the Slamma Jamma office at 440-974-8735 for directions.
  24. A certified trainer will be on duty the duration of the tournament.
  25. A truthful driver's license, ID, or birth certificate must be shown by all players when they check in or they cannot play.
  26. Tourney officials will make all final decisions if any problems, protests, etc. occur.
  27. Any questions please call Mike Cihon at 440-974-8735 or "Crazy" George Schauer at 800-830-7510 or email info@slammajamma.com.
